Ballet
Ballet classes are offered from Pre-Ballet through Advanced ballet levels and focus on Balanchine ballet technique. Ballet has been in existence since the 15th century and is considered the foundation of all dance techniques.
Pre-Ballet is a fun introductory class that introduces students to the very basics of ballet. Students also learn how to dance with the rhythms in music while learning to move in ballet form.
Ballet 1 students begin to learn to string together several ballet steps to make a "combination." Students begin dancing at the ballet barre, and practice more advanced ballet steps in the center of the floor. Ballet 1 is fun for young students because they start to see themselves dancing like older ballerinas.
Ballet 2 continues to build on the skills that students learn in Ballet 1. In Ballet 2 students will be given more intricate combinations of steps. This allows students to begin to "dance" and steps become more creative. Students will also learn more technically challenging steps.
Ballet 3 teaches students a wide variety of ballet steps. As students master these steps, class combinations and dances become more intricate. Ballet 3 is a pivotal level for students where they grow into more advanced dancers.
Ballet 4 continues to build on the skills that students learn in Ballet 3. In Ballet 4 students will be focusing on the art of performing. We will pay special attention to steps being done on beat with the music and flowing together gracefully. Students will also be learning many new and challenging steps. Listed below are some of the new ballet steps students will be learning this year in ballet 4.
Ballet 5 continues to build on the skills that students learn in Ballet 4. In Ballet 5 students will continue to focus on the art of performing. In addition to learning more advanced steps, students in Ballet 5 will start preparing for Pointe Class. This preparation will help their feet and ankles be strong enough to graduate to Pointe shoes! Listed below are some of the new steps students will be learning in ballet 5.
Advanced Ballet ballet focuses on perfecting ballet technique as well as developing a students performance quality. In advanced ballet students dance in slippers as well as Pointe shoes. The goal of Advanced Ballet is to eventually be able to do all ballet steps on Pointe.
